June 8, 2012 Siorac-en-Periord to Rodez France

Left Hotel L'escale Siorac-en-Perigord at 9.30am heading for Rodez for a one night stop over.
Travelled 202km.

As we didn't see half what we wanted to yesterday because of the car change over we decided to see what we missed before we left the Dordogne area. So glad we did as we would have missed so much.

Pete sitting on the terrace where we have had breakfast and dinner the last two nights. Beautiful setting by the river Dordogne. There are six rooms underneath so a nice small place run by an English couple with two teenage children, so no prob with the language. In fact I think all the guests were English speaking so we all had a lot of fun dining on the terrace both nights. We spent both nights with an Aussie guy and his wife who was Polish, they were great company.

When we left our hotel just down the road was these lovely gardens which we spent a lot of time wandering around. As you can see very well manicured. Probably five acres in all.

Then onto a village called La Roque Gageac which is build up the side of a rock cliff.

Looking along the road and as you can see the river runs along in front. Lovely spot

Now arrived in a town called Domme very high up. PT looking over the valley.

Walking through Domme another great area. All these places and the ones we did yesterday are in a circuit from where we stayed in the Dordogne region.

Pete sitting waiting for his lunch in a cafe in Domme.

Now arrived at Sarlat another town in this circuit. All the buildings are so old.

Town square of Sarlat

Still in Sarlat

As you can see we have passed through some great little villages and eventually arriving in Rodez.
Another very old town but much bigger. Will post photos tomorrow.
Really enjoyed the Dordogne region very green, lots of trees beautiful well keep farms/fields. This area seems very popular with English people either as tourists or living here. I would recommend this area to visit.

Tomorrow heading to the Millau Bridge exiting.
