June 13, 2012 Cagnes-sur-Mer, Nice France

We have had a bit of a nothing day trying to work out where we are staying in distance to Nice downtown. Our suburb is west of Nice called Cagnes-sur-Mer. This morning we took off walking to explore our area. We are about 4 minutes walk from our Apts to the sea. Got down to the promenade to find the tourist info to get maps, advise etc . Unfortunately we turned right at the beach front and walked for miles to realise the the info centre was the other way. By the time we got to it we must have walked about five miles. Very hot by now. Got our info and went back to base to figure it all out. Then we hopped into the car to go to the supermarket to stock up properly for the next four nights. No meals out so will eat bigger meals. Not so good.

While we were out in the car we took off along the beach road through to Nice and around to the Nice port but  just driving as busy and no parks. Just getting our bearings for tomorrow.

Got back to Apt  and then went down to the pool for a swim, very pleasant. Feeling much more relaxed now. The weather down here is quite different to where we have been further north. So much clearer. And the water is so crystal clear.

Along the promenade at the bottom of our street. Note the pebble beach, no sand. The water looks so clear and so blue looking forward  to a swim in the sea tomorrow after doing Nice.

Had to take this shot as when we did this area probably forty years ago with the Douglas's we remembered these high rise buildings in the back ground. Must have been very modern way back then.

Adam and Daniel you would love this little Mini, which was electric. Tried to pack in our suitcase but it wouldn't fit.

Near the bottom of our road. Quite big pebbles.

Driving along the promenade right in Nice, didn't stop just having a look.Big place to try and sort out as to how to approach it. Wouldn't want to try and do it all in a couple of nights stop over.

Drove passed the Ports unfortunately couldn't stop to get photo but just around the corner, pass there ,we managed to pull over to take a couple of pictures. Looking down from the road.

Looking the other way to the ports of Nice some nice big boats in there around the corner of the harbour out of site.

Driving back pass the port again took this photo as we dashed by so not so good. Called St David so took it for the boys.

This is our Apartments, pool is where I swam today. They are very nice and the gardens are well keeped but as I said yesterday our room is on the other side just looking over a busy road. But to be fair I think that the ones on the pool side are a lot more expensive. But we are comfortable just don't sit out on our balcony.
