Traveled 380km from St Remy to Nice via Toulon, Hyeres and Cogolin.
We were going straight to Nice straight down the highway but as it was only going to take just short of three hours and we couldn't check into these apartments until 5.00pm, ( which is always a nuisance so late) we decided to branch off to the coast to Toulon and travel along the coast for a while before going back to the Highway A8 .Long driving day leaving St Remy at 9.30am arriving here at 5.00pm but did have a few stops along the way. After Toulon went on to a place called Hyeres and stopped for a good while just walking around the marina. Boats, you have never seen so many. After that through Cogolin and back to the highway.
After arriving at first was disappointed as, although the apartment (Residence Nemea Le Lido in Cagnes Sur Mer) is excelent in itself they have given us a room on level one looking right over a busy street. Thank goodness for doulble glazing. Most of the rooms look out over a very nice garden and swimming pool. Just our luck but guess we are here to do more than look out our window.
Its nice having an apt. doing our own cooking. Will look forward to that for the five nights here. More relaxing without having to rush out looking for somewhere to eat.
We have had great weather today but have sat in the car most of it.
These photos are at Hyeres along the coast from Toulon. Had a good walk round so when we saw this sign we thought that PT may as well claim this port.
Apartment living having your boat moored below your balcony.
Boats everywhere.
PT walking down the row just dreaming.
Have a close look of the name of the middle boat.
The moorings just kept going on and on. Looking back at the cafe's
Our Apartment for the next five nights. Very nice, change from just hotel rooms.
We had a bad day for road tolls. All up 31.40 Euros. We are sure we paid twice on one road as the unmanned booth said, can't read card. So had to push button for help and in their broken English said where do you come from which was only a few Km up the road where we re joined. He meant what ramp did you come on . How the hell would we know. It should have been about 2 Euros and because we couldn't answer his question charged us 14Euros which 12 of that we had already paid for. Not our fault the machine couldn't read the card.
Now we have hit the Med what a contrast to what we have had.More up market newer area, after all the old roman monuments and ruins that we have walked miles to see.
Having trouble with the Wi-fi here just could'nt get it to down load photos, and even staying on line.
Nearly gave up tonight then it suddenly started moving. Perhaps everyone has gone to bed and freed up things. So if you don't receive anything over the next few days we are still here.
