June 20, 2012 Lake Maggiore Italy

Had a full day relaxing in this new apartment, apart from going down to Verbania mainly to buy some meat for dinner and to have a quick look around.
When we arrived yesterday it was very misty/foggy over the lake so didn't get much view. It is so humid and no wind at all, so the mist didn't clear.
When we arrived we got quite a shock, we knew that the accom was up the hill but when we started climbing up the side of the hill it twisted up six km so you can imagine how high we were and could hardly see a thing. If it was clear it would be great views. We are 2600ft above sea level and the lake is 664ft asl.
We look right down the lake.

Really nice apt. Our unit is in the middle level to the right. Massive balcony as you can see where PT is standing. There are six units, three on each level and lock up garage underneath for the guests. Laundry, cloths lines to put out on the balcony so great place to relax, catch up with laundry.

This is the size of the large balcony and the lake view, still very misty. You can see how high up we are.

Standing from the balcony looking in. Bed behind wall.

Kitchen on right, sitting area on left.

Taken from entry looking through to Balcony.

Looking back at unit from front of balcony.

View from balcony. Trying to clear a little.

View  looking to the right more.

When we went down town in the morning had to drive about 17km to Verbania. We were staying up above Cannero. Some shots around the lake above and the next two down. Still misty but nice. This one (under) we darn near  brought the town to a standstill as PT was told to stop for photo op on the side of the road.

Just a nice little shop I saw in the back streets of Verbania.

You have to wander around the back streets of these old towns to see what they are really like. Above and below

When we got back to apartment about 1.00pm just pottered around sorting out a few things drinking coffee on the balcony. Trying to sort computer out which seemed to have jammed, and wouldn't download my SD card so couldn't see any pictures. At first thought that my Blog would be on hold for the rest of the trip, but Pete sorted it out eventually.
When we got back from town the heavens opened and thunder but only lasted for about half hour and cleared again. Our balcony has table and chairs two loungers, so wasn't hard to stay in all afternoon. Good to relax. Although Pete keeps telling me we are here to see things not to sit around, but I know he enjoyed it to.
It is now 9.30pm, sitting outside writing this and the temperature is just staring to cool down. The humidly has been killing.
Didn't think that I would have much to write tonight but managed to rattle on about nothing.

Off to Cremia on Lake Como tomorrow for two nights so perhaps we will be a bit lazy again there, then after that back into this hard tourist stuff.
